ASE Apprenticeship Program

What Students Can Participate?
- 16+
- Physically able to perform essential functions of the job.
- Must pass physical exam and drug screening by prospective employer.
Compensation
- Minimum standards: Apprentice shall be paid on a progressively increased based on their improvement within the job.
- Minimal start @ $12.00
How Does a Dealership Sign-Up For The Program?
- Three Forms (most have been completed for you)
- AppendixD (for the state of NC)
- ASE ASAP MOU (for ASE)
- Contact form (for GCADA)
How Does a Dealership Select an Apprentice?
- GCADA & ASE will connect the dealer with local high school students in their region who have raised their hands to participate.
- Meetings/interviews will be arranged.
- Dealer chooses who to onboard.
Length of Apprenticeship Program
- Competency based/not time based.
- On average, the program takes 18-24 months to complete.
- All of this is captured on the mentor/mentee app shared with apprentice, employer, & instructor.
- 41 Job Functions to cover within the apprenticeship. Everything from Battery service to work habits & ethics). Some are required for completion and/or pay increase.
- Mentor and supervisor rates the apprentice on a 0 – 4 scale throughout the apprenticeship.
Cost to Dealer = $1000 to ASE per apprentice (this covers the cost of the app)
